🌿 About Cobblestone Fiber Designs

A Story Woven in Threads and Time

Cobblestone Fiber Designs didn’t begin with a business plan — it began with curiosity, heritage craft, and a loom.

In 2014, I learned continuous strand loom weaving from Theresa Jewell of Stoney Meadows Alpacas & Fiber Mill. From there, I fell in love with the process of transforming raw fiber into wearable comfort. Soon I found myself demonstrating weaving at festivals, and before I knew it, people were asking if they could take my pieces home. That was the first stitch in what would eventually become Cobblestone Fiber Designs.

A Journey of Names & Growth

Like many handmade businesses, mine has grown and shifted right alongside my life.

  • 2014: I started under the playful name Bubbles ‘n Stitches.
  • 2015: Rebranded to Cobblestone Alpacas as my dream of starting an alpaca farm took root.
  • 2020: The pandemic — and the arrival of our first child — derailed those farm plans.
  • 2024: Recognizing that I work with far more than alpaca fibers, I embraced the name Cobblestone Fiber Designs — a truer reflection of my work and heart.

Each name represents a season in my journey, but the thread running through all of them is the same: a passion for slow, sustainable, handmade fiber arts.

Handmade Matters

Today, I create:

  • Handwoven shawls, scarves, blankets, cowls, scrubbies, caplets, and shawlettes – each piece woven with care on my looms.
  • Hand-knit and machine-knit hats, earwarmers, and scarves – some made on a flatbed knitting machine (faster than needles but still guided stitch by stitch by hand).
  • Fingerless gloves – lovingly knit on traditional needles.
  • Cold-processed natural soaps – a simple, skin-friendly addition to my booth since 2016.

Every item is made with sustainability in mind, celebrating natural fibers and the long traditions of handcraft that connect us to the past.

Rooted in History & Tradition

My love for history and old ways of doing things is woven into every piece. With a degree in anthropology/archaeology and a master’s in history, I see fiber arts not only as craft, but as living heritage. These are the same skills our ancestors used to clothe their families, keep warm, and create beauty in everyday life.

When you wear one of my shawls or hats, you’re wrapping yourself in a tradition that has endured for centuries.

From Sheep to Shawl

I believe in honoring the full journey of fiber — from animal to finished piece. I work with a wide range of natural fibers and support endangered sheep breeds through programs like Shave ’Em to Save ’Em by the Livestock Conservancy.

For anyone curious about weaving itself, the continuous strand looms I use are now made by Tamadack Run Farms, a 4H farm in Albion, NY, and there’s a wonderfully supportive community on Facebook: Tamadack Run & Stone Mountain Looms.

Woven Alongside Life

Cobblestone Fiber Designs has grown alongside my personal journey. Since picking up my first loom in 2014, I’ve:

  • Begun dating my now-husband (2016),
  • Gotten married during the pandemic (2020),
  • Welcomed three beautiful children (2020, 2023, and 2024).

Many of my festival weekends are spent weaving, vending, and chasing little ones between booths — a reminder that handmade businesses are woven from real lives, full of love and chaos.

Looking Ahead

Cobblestone Fiber Designs continues to be rooted in what matters most:

  • Creating high-quality, sustainable, handmade goods.
  • Honoring natural fibers and the farmers who raise them.
  • Keeping heritage crafts alive for future generations.

Thank you for being here, for valuing handmade, and for choosing slow fashion. Each time you bring home one of my pieces, you’re not just buying something warm and beautiful — you’re becoming part of the story.

✨ Handmade with care. Rooted in tradition. Designed for comfort.
